After nearly 50 years of professional experience, architect Benjamín Romano has received the 2026 “Trayectorias” recognition from México DESIGN.

On March 10, the UNAM University Cultural Center hosted the presentation of the 2026 Trayectorias Recognition to architect Benjamín Romano, Director of LBR&A.
Granted by México DESIGN magazine, this award honors a practice built over more than four decades, marked by deep experience and a clear vision of the architectural craft.
A career shaped between construction and engineering
Since his beginnings, Benjamín Romano’s professional career has been closely linked to the field of construction. His training took place in direct contact with building sites, in an environment where engineering was part of daily life. This early proximity to engineering defined his understanding of architecture as a process where technical knowledge, execution, and design converge.
A pivotal point in his professional career was his collaboration with engineer Heberto Castillo, with whom he worked for 24 years. This partnership consolidated a vision in which structural engineering and architecture are integrated as a single system, a factor that decisively influenced his approach to design and construction.
For Benjamín Romano, architecture transcends formal aesthetics, it is understood as a commitment to creating functional spaces where every decision is based on technical, constructive, and utilitarian criteria.
“Architecture is what materializes our dreams. As people, we dream of better spaces and better ways of living, and it is our duty as architects to produce spaces that are functional.”
This vision has allowed the firm to develop projects that respond to a clear logic of execution, where space, structure, and flow operate in an articulated manner.
Throughout his career, Benjamín Romano has developed iconic projects such as Torre Reforma, Torre Tres Picos, and Torre Chapultepec, located along the Paseo de la Reforma corridor, as well as the upcoming Torre BanBajío in León, Guanajuato.
